The time for a revitalized Christian Left has come.

The Institute for Christian Socialism was founded to support followers of Jesus in confronting the world’s captivity to capitalism. The work of embodying and promoting the radical socialism of the Christian faith is vital for a more just world, and ICS is activating believers in their work of resistance and constructive transformation.

Since 2019, The Bias became a leading publication of Christian leftist thought, publishing over a hundred articles and essays. We have also hosted educational webinars, launched media, and most importantly, we’ve launched a grassroots membership program. Growing and sustaining economic and political democracy requires an organized Christian left with strong institutions and broad networks of power. That’s why we announced our membership program in October 2021. Since then, we’ve begun grassroots “base societies” where members are trained and formed as leaders and organizers to revolutionize their communities with the socialism of the Gospel.

I have long hoped for the rising up of an organized, solidaristic movement of Christians in the US committed to the radically social Gospel of Jesus. The aim of ICS is to be a catalyst and facilitator of that uprising. The time is ripe for deep, systemic change.

The Institute for Christian Socialism is reclaiming Christianity for a political movement that recognizes that the dictates of the Gospel are wholly incompatible with capitalism.
